History Of Vetal Hill
The history of Vetal hill isn’t complicated. The name Vetal hill derived its name from the temple present here. There was a Vetal (Indian God) temple on the top of the hill and hence it got its name from here. The temple exists even now and its quite a popular destination still for many who come up here.
The Vetal hill land was allotted to ARAI- Automotive Research Association of India in the year 1972 by the Government of Maharashtra. Government of Maharashtra, through PMC, published notice, seeking opinion vied Gazette Notification in 1973, for change of status of Survey No. 102, Kothrud from ‘No development Zone’ to ‘Commercial and Industrial Zone’ for ARAI’s exclusive use. They then with their team developed the barren land into a dense forest with various trees and plantations and what it is seen today.
