Pune : Bamboo craft research and training centre to be set up in three public universities, plans Maharashtra forest department. The first such centre will be setup at Savitribai Phule Pune University [SPPU] said the administration. The other two centres to be setup in Mahatma Phule Agriculture University in Rahuri and the Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. These centres will help improve the cultivation of bamboo and also improve the quality by scientific research and training. This project will be beneficial for local bamboo artists who can enhance their skills through this program. This set up will also encourage job opportunities in the field of Bamboo plantation. The structures and furniture created at this centre will be put to use in various departments of the university building and will also be available for sale.
