Smuggled Gold Worth Rs.3 Crores Seized At Pune International Airport
On the basis of some specific information, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Pune regional unit, with coordination and assistance of officers of Pune customs commissioner today on 16.08.2018 at Pune international airport, recovered 86 gold biscuits and gold in other forms.
The smuggled gold, weighing 10.14 kilograms was valued at R. 3,09,34,000 and was seized by the DRI during a check carried out after the clearance of passengers of a Spice Jet flight, SG52, arriving from Dubai. The DRI has arrested 2 accused of violating the gold smuggling racket. The police have arrested the accused from the Pune airport. The police have seized 10 kg of gold from the accused, whose price is more than Rs 3 crore in international market. In the investigation of DRI, it has been found in the investigation that the accused were coming from Dubai region.
Police are also looking for other accused who work for the gang in this case.DRI, Pune regional unit has recently been opened at Pune and the case is first major seizure of the unit. Further investigation is under progress, officials said.
