In India the economic development and rising population is putting a strain on the environment. Environmental pollution is one of the most serious problems facing humanity and other life forms on our planet today. One of the major reasons of pollution is the emission from vehicles. In order to reduce the pollution levels in India, public transport should be adopted for travelling. In an event held in Pune at the National Chemical Laboratory, Rashmi Urdhwarsehe Director of Automotive Research Association of India said, India should promote the use of biofuels and public transport to tackle pollution. She said development and promotion of public transport and avoiding use of personal vehicles, promoting CNG and biofuels can help reduce the pollution. Different vehicle technologies that improve fuel efficiency should be adoped, also alternative fuels that can be used for transportation should be promoted.
