About Pawana Dam
Pawana Dam is an earth fill and gravity dam built on the Pawana River of Pune district. This dam was built in the year 1972. It is around 65kms from Pune. Pawana Dam is 139 ft. high and is 4360 ft. long.
This dam is located at a very famous place of Pune, which is Lonavla. It is 7kms from Lonavala and 19kms interior to Kamshet. The main purpose of the dam is to supply water and for hydroelectricity. In the vicinity one can see the beautiful forts of Tung, Tikona and Lohagadh which also is a famous tourist spot.
How to reach?
By private vehicle: One can drive through a private vehicle via Pirangut and then Paud road to Pawana Dam.
By local transport: Buses are available from Pune station. Also local train is available from Pune station or Shivajinagar station till Lonavla. From Lonavla, local transport can be taken. Local taxis are directly available from Pune too.
