After a long wait, Nigdi – Dapodi route in PCMC area is going to start Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) facility from today. More than one lakh passengers will be benefited from this high speed bus service. Guardian Minister of Pune District Girish Bapat will inaugurate this BRT facility.
All main points in Pune city will be covered from Nigdi. This is the fifth BRT facility in PMC and PCMC area. So in all 623 buses will be on road on BRT route all over Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The length of this route is 12.5 km and breadth is 61 meters out of which 3.5 meters is BRT route breadth. This route will be having 36 bus stops, 4 T-Junctions, 5 subways and 4 Grade separators. There will be 273 buses out of which 113 are PMP’s buses, 139 will be on rent and 21 will be from buses from other BRT route. As per the officials, it costed around one crore to complete this project.
So whenever it is possible, let’s all try to avail this facility which is made available to us, as it would definitely help to reduce the problem of pollution and traffic congestion in the city. If there is less use of private vehicles then pollution levels and traffic problems certainly would be less.
