Navratri is a Hindu festival which is celebrated for 9 days in the Hindu month ‘Ashwin’. This year it is starting today i.e. on 10th October and will end on 18th October. Goddess Durga is worshipped in this festival. It is celebrated differently in different states of India.
Puneites are also ready to welcome ‘Devi’ in their homes as well as in different pandals. ‘Ghatasthapana’ is done on the very first day of festival and it ends on ‘Dusshera’ or ‘Vijaya Dashami”. Devi is worshipped by keeping garlands made up of Marigold flowers. As we all know that there are different names of Devi as Mahalaxmi, Durga, Sarswati, Bhavani Mata and many more, people worship these Goddesses as per their traditions. There are many shops in the city which are ready with variety of Pooja items, Daandiya Sticks and of course traditional outfits. Citizens enjoy this festival by performing traditional dance ‘Dandiya’ and ‘Garba’ in front of Devi. 9 different colours are observed on 9 days of Navaratri by worshipping Devi.
So let’s hope that this colourful festival will bring prosperity, health and wealth to people and it will fill colours in people’s lives and also get ready with your best traditional attire to perform in ‘Dandiya’ and ‘Garba’ celebrations.
