Mumbai-Pune Railway Route started after the landslide at Lonavla
Sunday Around 10.50 am on the Pune-Mumbai railway line, the landslide collapsed on the up and middle line of Khandala Ghat. The railway traffic was closed till midnight. At about 11.30 pm, the traffic line between Mumbai and Pune was started at a low speed of about 25 minutes. In the meantime, the middle line was closed by the Railway Administration on Saturday and on Sunday, to keep the stones loose on the hill.
Lonavla and Khandala areas have been raining for the past few days, due to which the loose stone blocks in the hill city have occurred on Friday and Saturday on the railway lane. On Saturday night, on both upper and middle lines, big stones and soil came down from the hill and the traffic on both sides of Mumbai and Pune was blocked. This was stopped at Kolhapur-Ahmedabad railway at Khandala, whereas Sideshwar Express was stopped at CST station. At Lonavla and Kalyan, the emergency squad started the line immediately after removing the stones on the up line at midnight. Throughout the day, the traffic was running slowly. At night, work was being obstructed due to wind, rain, and darkness.
