The Mumbai-Pune Express Way means speedy vehicles and traffic. Now the journey on this highway is likely to get even faster. MSRDC is contemplating to increase the speed limit on the expressway. The speed between the administrative and cultural capital of the state will be reduced by half an hour if the speed limit on the expressway is increased.

Though there is a proposal to speed up the by MSRDC, the rise in accidents is the main issue in the system. The Mumbai-Pune Expressway was started in 2003. Since then, there have been 5000 accidents on the 95-kilometer highway. MSRDC has formed a committee to decide on the speed limit on the expressway. These include the officers of the MSRDC with experts from Home, Transport, Automobile and Health Sciences, and the speed report will be prepared from them. After this, the new speed limit for the Express Delivery will be decided.

The committee appointed to take the decision on speed limit will consider the scarcity area, narrow areas on the highway. The report will be submitted from this committee in the next few months. If there is a need to increase the speed, what measures will be needed to avoid the accident, the committee will also be informed. In April, the central government has requested to increase the speed limit for all the maintenance of highways. This request has been requested by the center to read the travel time. However, due to frequent accidents, MSRDC has not yet decided to speed up the speed of the expressway to 100 km per hour from 80 kilometers per hour.
