Bhide Bridge submerged after Water Discharge From khadakwasla dam
Due to heavy rains in the khadakwasla dam area, water is being released from the dam to the Mutha river. The river is flowing with heavy discharge and the Bhide Bridge went down in the afternoon on Tuesday. Hence the traffic on this bridge has been stopped. 18,491 cusec has been released on the night from the dam.
Police and municipal corporation are instructed peoples not to carry the vehicles in the Bhide bridge.18,500 cusecs of water were being released from the dam in Mudha river. Now it has been increased to 22000 cusecs. This has caused a flood-like situation in Mutha river.”After water was released into the Mutha river, the low lying Bhinde bridge submerged in Deccan-Gymkhana area and as many as 15 vehicles, parked along the riverside, too, got submerged in the water, The fire brigade officials rushed to the spot and took the vehicles out of the water,” Prashant Ranpise, the chief fire officer of Pune Municipal Corporation said.
Heavy rains also affected rail and road connectivity, and trains and buses ran two hours behind schedule. Two landslides were reported in the city — at Malshej ghat and Varandh ghat in Bhor tehsil.
