Asian Games Update: Neeraj Chopra Gold Medal on the 9th day
India made five medals in the 18th Asian Games on a ninth day, including a gold, three silver, and a bronze. While India has so far 8 gold, 13 silver, and 20 bronze medals. Neeraj Chopra, the flag-bearer of India, won the gold medal on the 9th day. Neeraj grabbed his best throw 88.06 meters and captured gold. Neeraj achieved this gold medal despite failure in two of the five attempts. This is India’s first gold medal on a ninth day. While China’s silver medalist, China’s Kiezen Liu, throwing 82.22m throws to second place, Nadeem Arshad of Pakistan won the best throw bronze medal of 80.75.
In his first attempt, Neeraj threw a throw of 83.46 meters. His second attempt was fouled at the same time. In the third attempt, he had completed his gold throw of 88.06 meters. In the fourth attempt, Neeraj measured the distance of 83.25 meters. His last attempt was foul but it did not have any effect on Neeraj’s gold medal. Neeraj is the only other player in India who has won a gold medal in Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. Milkha Singh did this in 1958.
