Asian games 2018: Arpinder Singh wins the gold medal in men’s triple jump event
On the 11th day of the 18th Asian Games, there was happiness for India. In the track and field event, India won two consecutive gold medals. Arpinder Singh from Punjab, won the first gold medal, in the triple jump. After this, Swapna Burman gave the country the 11th the gold medal in the women’s heptathlon.
Arpinder, who lives in Amritsar Punjab, got the third jump (16.77 meters) enough to win the gold medal. Raslan Qurbanov of Uzbekistan (16.62 meters) Silver and Shuo Cao of China (16.56 meters) captured Bronze Medal. India has won the gold medal after 48 years of triple jump in Asian Games. Prior to this, Mahindra Singh won the gold medal in the Asian Games of 1970. Arpinder’s first jump was unsuccessful. After this, he took a jump of 16.58 meters in the second jump and made it to the top. The third jump he put 16.77 meters, which was enough for him to get gold medals in the Asian Games. Arpinder’s fourth jump is 16.08 meters. His fifth and sixth leaps were not successful.
