Actress Sujata Kumar passed away at 53 after battling cancer
Actress Sujata Kumar, who played elder sister in Sridevi’s famous film ‘English Winglish’, passed away at around 11.29 pm on Sunday night. She was 53 years old. Sujata’s body parts, battling with the fourth stage of metastatic cancer, stopped working. She was admitted in Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. Sujata’s sister, Suchitra Krishnamurthy, informed about the demise through social media.
Sujata had declared himself cancer-free in an interview given in September 2012, before the release of ‘English-Winglish’ but once again she was hit by this deadly disease. It was revealed on Sunday that Sujata is on the fourth stage of cancer and many of her organs have stopped working. On Monday afternoon, the funeral of Sujata Kumar was done at the Vile Parle Shamshan Ghat in Mumbai. Daughter Kritika and sister Suchitra Krishnamurthy gave Sujata a fire and completed the cremation. Besides English Winglish, Sujata had worked in films such as ‘Ranjhana’ and ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’. She also acted in Anil Kapoor starrer ’24’. Apart from this, she had also been seen in ‘Hotel Kingston’ and ‘Bombay Talking’ shows.
