When in Pune, you won’t find anybody who doesn’t know about the place Lonavla. Lonavla is a very famous hill station located near Pune and the easiest getaway from Pune. It is around 65kms from Pune.
Present day Lonavla was a part of Yadava Dynasty and later the Mughals realised its strategic importance and used during warring times as a watch tower.

Karla and Bhaja Caves: Karla and Bhaja caves are ancient Buddhist caves which is around 10kms from Lonavla.
Lonavala Lake: Lonavla lake also known as Bhushi dam is 1.5kms from the town. It is one of the major attractions of Lonavla.
Shivaji Park : Shivaji Park, which was known as a playground which was converted into a garden in 1956 there is statue of Shri Shivaji Maharaj in this park.
Ryewood : This is a big and beautiful garden situated close to Lonavala. This garden covers a lot of ground and it is full of majestic tall trees. There is an old Mahadev temple in this park. This garden has plenty of place for children to play.
Tiger Point: Tiger point is a cliff-top with a sheer drop of over 650mtrs, giving an extensive view from the top.
Lion’s Point: Lion’s point is the scenic elevation between Bhushi Dam and Amby Valley. It offers a beautiful top view during monsson.
Celebrity Wax Museum: Celebrity Wax Museum was founded by a wax artist named Sunil Kandaloor from Kerala. You can get a mini glimpse of the Madam Tussauds wax museum here.
Shooting Point: As the name says, it is one of the favourite places for shooting Bollywood movies.
How To Reach Lonavla?
By private vehicle: To reach Lonavla, one can use the Mumbai Pune Expressway to reach. Two and three wheeler are not allowed on the expressway but you can always go by car/bus.
By Train: The ones travelling by train have a decent option. There are local trains running from Pune to Lonavla that start as early as 6.30am. There are many Express trains too that halt at Lonavla as it is one of the prime stations on this route.

Lonavla is visited throughout the year, but the real fun is during monsoon. During monsoon the place turns lush green and gives the best view. Being a hill station is becomes colder in winter and full of Fog. Lonavla is just another spot you can enjoy with your family and friends.
Drinking is permitted in Lonavla but of course by safer and decent means. The famous Vada Pav and Bhajji can be savoured here. Lonavla’s another famous is their Chikki and there are various shops present in Lonavla which sell these.
Camping options are also available in Lonavla. Campers can take their gears and go for night camps.
