Force Motors Opens New 100 Crore Plant in Chakan for Mercedes-Benz Engines – Pune based Force Motor on Wednesday, 22nd of June,2016, has inaugurated its brand new manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune, which will be supplying green field engines and axles to India’s biggest luxury car makers, Mercedes-Benz. This newest manufacturing plant built with investment of RS 100 crores. The  company stated that their main aim behind the launch of new plant is to be even more flexible in terms of production capacity demands. Mercedes -Benz India and SUV’s entered into the partnership with Pune based car manufacturing company since year 1997 for the production of engines. Force Motors has supplied over 60,000 engines as well as over 50,000 axles to Mercedes- Benz, till date.

Managing director of Force Motors, Prasan Firodia said that, the establishment of this new plant marks essential step in their 45 year long association with India’s Mercedes- Benz. The new plant which has been spread over 1,30,000 sq ft includes eight lines that assemble and also test up to 14 engine variants. These variant contains, 4 cylinder petrol, diesel mills and six cylinder v-type petrol as well as diesel engines. The newly launched facility of Force Motors at Chakan, employs 200 personnel and has two shifts work outlined. Presently, this newest plant has annual production capacity of 20,000 engines, along with 20,000 front and rear axle, which can be enhanced as per the further requirements.

The new  100 crore investment on the Plant is part of the 700 crore investment which Force Motor has engaged over next two years. Pune based firm is aiming to triplet its revenue to Rs 3,000 crore in next three years, especially with its contract manufacturing business for leading automobile companies such as Mercedes and BMW. And currently the revenue created is around Rs 1,000 crore.

Recently, Force Motor has set up a new  engine manufacturing facility in Chennai for BMW cars with the total investment of RS 200 crore. Every year it can produce up to 20,000 premium engines. Force has been one of the oldest component makers in the commercial vehicle space and it continues to do well in this manufacturing field. Force operates its business under three verticals  as vehicle manufacturing, component manufacturing & tooling for other original equipment makers.
